Blade Investigation Project
Windcom has partnered with WINDprove, Tecsis, and windfarm owners to investigate fleet wide blade issues of an aging blade. This effort looks at damage histories, manufacturing data, operational data, varying environmental effects at various locations to determine the root cause of failure modes. With this in hand, repairs are engineered to outlast the life of the turbine and be standardized after thorough testing.
Windcom plans to use this approach on other blade fleets that will allow owners to understand what is happening to their blades as they age and how to extend their life in a predictable way. Presentation at the Chicago event will update the progress on this project.
